This End-User License Agreement (EULA) is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity) and the mentioned author (Off Grid And Marine Energy Systems and its affiliates) of this Software for the software product generally known as WS500 configuration and monitoring Tool, which includes computer software and may include associated media, printed materials, and “online” or electronic documentation (“SOFTWARE PRODUCT”).

By installing, copying, or otherwise using the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, do not install or use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

SOFTWARE PRODUCT LICENSE

a) This SOFTWARE PRODUCT is being distributed both as Freeware and paid versions for personal, commercial use, non-profit organization, educational purpose. It includes no CD-ROM/DVD-ROM distributions. You are NOT allowed to charge for redistribution of this Software (either for profit or merely to recover your media and distribution costs) whether as a stand-alone product, or as part of a compilation or anthology. It may be distributed freely on any website or through any other distribution mechanism, as long as no part of it is changed in any way.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE. This EULA grants you the following rights: Installation and Use. You may install and use a specified number of copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, as detailed in the product description on the website.

2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS.

Limitations on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation, Disassembly and change (add, elete or modify) the resources in the compiled the assembly. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, except and only to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation.

Update and Maintenance

Separation of Components.
The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed as a single product. Its component parts may not be separated for use on more than one computer.

Termination.
Without prejudice to any other rights, the Author of this Software may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and all of its component parts.

3. COPYRIGHT.
All title and copyrights in and to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT (including but not limited to any images, photographs, clipart, libraries, and examples incorporated into the SOFTWARE PRODUCT), the accompanying printed materials, and any copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT are owned by the Author of this Software. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is protected by copyright laws and international treaty provisions. Therefore, you must treat the SOFTWARE PRODUCT like any other copyrighted material.

LIMITED WARRANTY

NO WARRANTIES.

The Author of this Software expressly disclaims any warranty for the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT and any related documentation is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including, without limitation, the implied warranties or merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The entire risk arising out of use or performance of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT remains with you.

NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES.
In no event shall the author of this Software be liable for any special, consequential, incidental or indirect damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, damages for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, or any other pecuniary loss) arising out of the use of or inability to use this product, even if the Author of this Software is aware of the possibility of such damages and known defects.

Wakespeed configuration tool

The tool works well. It reliably establishes coms with the regulator and provides access to the state of the unit. Programming is straightforward and the Help function, which is critical, is complete.

motorhome install

the wakespeed alt voltage regulator is a special component and priced right at ogm probably cheaper than other sources as i got the kit with shunt. correct me if i am wrong but i think ogm wrote their own software program for laptop use that codes the regulator as well as datalogs and has a much nicer interface than what i see wakespeed advertising. this software is an add on item that was part of my kit by promotion. my application is basically a land yacht (rv) and the goal is to have a diversified electrical generation system and as best i can tell now, the wakespeed is a key puzzle piece and integrates so well with my highoutput alternator. i wish i had a watercooled alternator as i read someone that did was able to basically achieve max output almost all the time, but having an aircooled unit the wakespeed will protect it. based of initial testing, i deem it feasible to to run 1 rooftop ac, basic chassis loads, and probably a tv with out running the generator by having a high output alternator with wakespeed with a good sized battery bank, rooftop solar, and integrated automatic generator start as a backup. that is under ideal conditions, and running the alternator at high loads produces a lot of heat so more testing will be done as well as working on piping fresh air to the alt. honorable mention to Rick for quality customer service, will work on my bms next.

Great Kit and Service

I was managing a self-made14S6P 51V battery pack with a Batrium Watchmon for several years. My configuration also includes a 58V 160A alternator that had a GenSun regulator that could only be managed with a relay-driven on/off state. The rest of my configuration consisted of a Victron Cerbo GX, a Victron Quattro 48-3000 and a Victron MPPT 100/20-48.

I wanted more control over the alternator so I ordered a Wakespeed WS500 and a REC 2Q BMS kit. The installation went well and the integration between the Cerbo GX, REC 2Q BMS and Wakespeed WS500 has been flawless. The installation kit included everything necessary to professionally connect the REC 2Q to the battery pack, sensors and relays. You may want to add the CAN bus cables that connect the REC BMS 2Q and the Wakespeed WS500 to the Victron Cerbo GX. You may also find that you want to add a few more of the temperature sensors. I reached out to OGM for support at a couple of points during the installation. Their responses were prompt and helpful. I’ll look forward to working with them again.

WS500 Configuration Tool-Config Version Life Time- Windows

Above and beyond.

I had recently swapped out computers and lost my software key and software to monitor my WS500 in the swap. All that transferred was the Home Screen Icon. The team without hesitation looked me up and sent me a new key (or maybe my original one). I am now back up and running.

After having built a lifepo4 battery with a mass produced JBD BMS, I knew I wanted something different when switching to EV. I had heard great things about REC from users of Electric Sailboats on Facebook. I wanted my BMS to be the best quality I could get.

The installation was very straightforward, and greatly simplified by the availability of prebuilt wiring harnesses. The features of the BMS are impressive - while I havent used it yet, the 2 opto outputs are very sophisticated in terms of software control, and I will surely find a use for them.

I'm working on using BMS CAN and fully integrating with Victron multiplus & cerboGX. The fact that Victron lists REC as a known-working integration gave me a lot of confidence in the solution.

I had sent emails (excessive emails!) to REC since January asking for details about the product and release date info. It's a great product, and I'm happy I waited for release.

OGM energy has been very responsive in answering inquiries, and shipped the product sooner than expected. Very pleased!

Easy to use

Very easy to use and much easier to program the WS500 than using the native interface via putty. I like the dashboard display which quickly lets you see the impact of your changes.
Looking forward to the CANBus interface as it is annoying to have to take off the front cover of the WS500 to access the USB socket (not a problem with the software more a problem with the physical design of the WS500 - no idea why they don't have a USB socket on the outside of the box!)

Controls Everything!

We have been using the REC BMS in conjunction with a Victron Multiplus and Wakespeed Regulator (alternator control) for a couple years now. The REC BMS communicates via CANbus with all of our charge and major discharge sources to ensure that the LiFePO4 house bank on our boat is properly managed. The system has been basically flawless. The only negative is the REC BMS is programmed to keep the house bank more or less at full charge even when we are away from the boat, I would prefer a storage mode that kept the bank at a lower state of charge but have not figured out how to do this with the REC.

This is great feedback. With the new Wi-Fi module REC should be able to add this functionality and hopefully, after the release of the new 2Q BMS they will consider this feature request.

We 500

I phone app doesn’t work no info how to set up expensive waste of money ….

The WS500 app created by Wakespeed is done using a multi-platform language called Flutter. When compiled for Apple IOS, the communications portion of the app gets disabled because Apple does not allow third parties to use the Lightning port for USB serial functionality. There is nothing Wakespeed can do to overcome this but to help we have fully refunded the cost of our Windows 10-11 tech tool and hopefully that helps get you set up and going.
