Controls Everything!

We have been using the REC BMS in conjunction with a Victron Multiplus and Wakespeed Regulator (alternator control) for a couple years now. The REC BMS communicates via CANbus with all of our charge and major discharge sources to ensure that the LiFePO4 house bank on our boat is properly managed. The system has been basically flawless. The only negative is the REC BMS is programmed to keep the house bank more or less at full charge even when we are away from the boat, I would prefer a storage mode that kept the bank at a lower state of charge but have not figured out how to do this with the REC.

This is great feedback. With the new Wi-Fi module REC should be able to add this functionality and hopefully, after the release of the new 2Q BMS they will consider this feature request.

Review

Great products and even better customer service. I do miss the telephone number for contact but understand the need for email contact.

Thanks so much Steve. I understand how easy phone support on the customer side but as there are many diffeent implemenations, it is impossible for us to visualize your configuriation and provide good off the cuff tech feedback. Sometimes we need to refer to a maual or ponder it for a few minutes, send you tutorials, or manual links, etc. Thanks for your understanding. :)

Fabulous

Rick and OGM as a whole have been nothing short of wonderful. Not only do they always have what I need when I need it, their support is unlike any other. Rick has worked with me to return (unused) items well past when he should have. The team creates helpful user’s guides and truly understands and are willing to help with any issues with equipment, even when the issues are created by the user (yes, me). This is the place to find and purchase all of your energy needs. Thanks, Rick!

Hey Charley, thanks so much for your kind words!! We are glad you like our new Quick start manuals too :)

REC-Wifi unit inoperable

I purchased the rec-wifi on the advice of and the REC website. I could not log into the wifi unit referencing the product manual. I found many individuals were having the same problem through a web search. In the end, I purchased the pc software which allowed for me to change the parameters associated with my specific system. My understanding is that one cannot do what with the wifi system. The touch pad also just displays information, it does not allow one to alter the bms parameters.

Hi Tom, sorry you had issues with the WiFi module. Early versions did have some issues but not recently and your situation seemed unusual. Hopefully Tine at REC was able to get your WiFi working for you in the end. The WiFi module, when working, will actually provide all needed functionality but you are correct, the LCD screen is for viewing only.
