The Ws500 uses an STM processor with built in USB communications, unlike an Arduino which uses an external FTDI chip. On some Windows 10 computers the Windows STM driver has problems with trying to flash updates to the WS500. Updating the STM driver in Device Settings worked for me.
Step 1) Right mouse click on the Windows \"Start\" button in bottom left of the main screen
Step 2) Scroll up to \"Device Settings\" and left mouse click
Step 3) Look for the STM Driver in the Treeview
If it is configured correctly it should be under Universal Serial Devices
If it is not properly recognized you may find it in \"Other Devices\" with a question mark beside it.
Step 4) If this is case, right click on the STM item and select \"Update Driver\"
Then select \"Search Automatically\" on the web and it should find it for you.
