2 pcs A-BMS on same CAN-BUS network.

  • Hi.

I currently have two REC A-BMS connected to the same Cerbo.

One BMS is ID 2 and other is ID 4 in RS485 network, so far so good.

But when I connect them both to CAN-BUS there seems to be some conflict.

I tried separating them, one on VE.CAN input (250kbps), the other on BMS-CAN (500 kbps).

They both show up as separate batteries in device list on the touch screen, but with same VRM instance.

In VRM there is only one battery where one "overturns" the other if it is connected or not.

The multiplus gets confused, and this also brings other errors on my NMEA200 network like autopilot droping out.  So the way it is now, I have to leave one disconnected, or turn of NMES2000 output from cerbo.

I belive the problem is they both ID themself with same name/ID on CAN bus.

Any idea on how to solve this?

I have read thru the manual and dont see how to ID/NAME them different on CAN bus.

  • I did get an reply from Tine about this.

And from my understanding all BMS`s send ID 0x3..

And this can be changed to 0x4.. with special FW for BMS but then you need to customice programming in the Venus OS. and this can not be done with Cerbo, only Rasberry Pi.

Not sure what to make of this but I guess I have to leave the second BMS off the CAN bus and instead implement it to my system with an Smartshunt instead.  Then hope this will be possible in the future.
