Alternator Warm - Wire #7 send 3.5 Amps!!??

  • Update - Sorted.  Found a short!

Finalizing the install on a 2 engine layout. STBD good, went to port engine and noticed the alternator was warm.  Tested and found the #7 wire (pos excitation harness) is sending 3.47A to the alternator.  Disconnected the ingintion wire (#1) and the current is still present.

    Ideas on further troubleshooting??

    Thanks

  • Stopped the LED flashing when the brown is disconnected?

If LED stopped flashing, then IAm afraid the unit is broken.

How much amps is the fuse in wire 6?

Best to remove 2 fuse from the working unit. ONLY after removing the fuses, disconnect the wire harsness from the regulator.

Do a test with the other regulator.
