Hello,
I am looking to setup a LFP power system for a boat with 16 EVE LF280K cells configured in 8S2P for a total of 560Ah @24V and looking to use REC 2Q BMS for each 8 cell string.
Can I just use 2 separated REC 2Q BMS for each string, each BMS with its own shunt and relays, and program them indipendently, obviously with same settings (LVD, HVD, etc.) ?
I have a mix of Victron (solar MPPT) and non-victron (inverter/charger) components
Do I have to purchase a REC BMS MASTER UNIT as well ? Is it mandatory?
A master-slave config looks quite complex.
for a 560Ah system, as long as you have well behaved cells, you can likely use a single 2Q BMS by connecting them in a 2P8S configuration.
If you want a redundant system you will need 2 of the 2Q BMS's with a Master which makes them look like one complete pack to the Victron, as it will accept one DC source (but can monitor more)
Here is a link to a sing 2Q BMS in a 2p8S config diagram:

and here are a few pics of what a Master/Slave system displays on a Victron Cerbo
