I have a split bus and use the REC BMS to control contactor on load bus and charge bus.
I want to have an emergency shut down switch that will safely shut down the entire lithium system.
The emergency shut down switch has two poles, normally closed. When the emergency switch is pressed, one pole (immediately) shuts down the field current to the alternator. The other pole (with a 6 second RC delay) needs to open both the CHARGE and the DISCHARGE contactors.
a) Can this be accomplished simply by opening the hibernate switch on REC BMS?
b) Exactly what does the hibernate switch do? Is it really an on/off switch?
Thanks.
