I'm turning on my BMS for the first time and one getting Error 15. It says contact support but support says ask here, idk? Has anyone ran into this? I can't access it through WiFi and do a reset because it won't engage my contactor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
An error 15 is caused when
1) a cell tap wire is disconnected while still connected to the BMS and it created a voltage imbalance, burning out the highly sensitive ADC circuitry.
2) You connect up your cell tap wires while the green terminal block is connected to the BMS and before doing a voltage test.
3) You have inadvertantly cross wired your cell tap wires and created are large voltage differential between cells
First, remove the green terminal block and measure each cell voltage back to ground. It should increase by about 3.3v per cell, so 1- to 1+ = 3.3v 1- to 2+ = 6.6 1- to 3+ 9.9, etc,. The manual will be helpful too.
If you find a wiring issue, correct it and try again. If you still get the error, you may have fatally damaged your BMS.
The original Q series has been superceded by the 2Q so it will need to go back to REC head office for repair/return. You can contact Maja at maja@rec-bms.com for help.
@Rick Thanks! I fear it's a 1. but due to a different operator error. I wish the Q's were still available and I'd purchase a back up due to being off grid. I've been trying to compare to the 2Q to see how difficult it would be to make them interchangeable. What do you think? Thanks again!
Hey Tony, the big change is that the 2Q uses better connectors, has more memory, a real-time clock and has a built in precharge circuit. It also requires the Wi-fi as the standard interface
If you would like to upgrade to the 2Q contact us at support@ogm-energy.com and we will see what we can do to help :)
