I cannot get the WS500 File Transfer Utility to work on my Dell laptop running Windows 10 (64bit).
The situation: I run the WS500 File Transfer Utility; when prompted I plug in the WS500 to a USB port (they are all USB3.0 ports). The WS500 LED flashes indicating that it has power. Then I press the WS500 reset button for five seconds, release it, and then press the space key. The WS500 File Transfer Utility immediately errors out \"no device found\". Note that when the WS500 button is released the WS500 never powers back on.
Because the WS500 would never power on after a five second reset, I suspected that the USB Selective Suspend feature in Windows had turned off USB power to the WS500 when it was reset. So I turned off the USB Selective Suspend feature using Windows\' Device Manager (devmgmt.msc). Reboot the computer and run the utility again... This did not fix it.
I tried using a USB 2.0 hub between the computer and the WS500. This did not fix it.
A bit of Googling lead me to a USB related registry key: SelectiveSuspend. I tried setting it to 0 (disabled). Reboot the computer... This did not fix it.
Searching through the registry I found SelectiveSuspend settings in many places. I do not want to just randomly start changing registry keys.
I know that this is not a WS500 issue, especially since Rick has help me update my WS500 using his desktop computer. But... I am stuck and frustrated with not being able to update my WS500 firmware or configuration profile.
Al, Rick, anyone, Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try to install this driver: https://www.wakespeed.com/wp-content/uploads/Driver.zip
That fixed it. Thank you!!!!
Hello - I'm having the issue mic outlined. I did the driver update Trond provided. After I release the reset button the ws500 tool does nothing. The green light isn't on. When I exit the firmare update screen I get a message dialog that says "Serial communications not started. Ok to Start?". I select OK and get another dialog that says the device could not be found at the registered serial port. If the green light isn't on, hit the gray reset button and if all else fails restart and rescan the usb ports. This restarts the entire process, which fails again. Trying to comission the units and this is a road block. Thanks!
Sorry you are having that problem. It's frustrating. I'm not very familiar with the serial comm driver that the WS500 needs, but it kind of sounds like it's not loading. I didn't have to do anything special to get it to work. Did you reboot your boot computer after installing the new driver? (you didn't say).
FYI. I can tell that my computer recognizes and emumerates the WS500 bc a get a "ding" as soon as I connect the ws500 to my computer. And another "ding" when I disconnect. This is even before I run the update utility.
Sorry that I can't be of more help. Hopefully one of the moderators will respond soon.
@Michael Thanks. I switched over to the andriod app and it did the firmware update and configuration download / compare like a charm. Definitely easier and faster than the Widnows App.
I think that is a really good solution.
