Is there much need for Current Sensing with LiFEPO4 profiles?

  • Pb batts need adsord LiFe does not and can be largely sensed by the \"knee\" Therefore, is there significant value in tracking battery current? Solar is mostly voltage tracked. With a once a day peak and then a float. Testing shows holding at the float for a long period acheives the same as the adsorb peak. So - can we ditch current monitoring in the profile with little negative outcome? This would save the whole \"centric\" view on profiles / design

  • I guess the biggest drawback is the WS500 will go from Bulk to float the second the battery hits 14.2V. How much effect this will have i guess also depends on the battery and alternator size.

  • If you charge relatively high amps compare to battery bank, amps sense is more important. If you can charge the bank at float voltage, probably your float voltage is set too high. Do you set the float higher as 13.35V/13.4V?
