@John a probably solution is to use output: relay1 and opto2. Under task you can make different settings. See screenshot from task menu.
John,I considered the Blue Sea swtich - it's a good switch (I have one and like it), but for my Lithium I wanted a smaller more compact solution which the EGIS seems to provide - I'll know when I p...
I've been using the Blue Sea ML-RBS for about 2 years and zero issues with it; off a REC pre-charge 3.0 module. I like that it has a definitive safety lock-out reature, and emergency disconne...
Topic says it all. I have a REC ABMS running latest 2.92-2 firmware for a split bus. Batteries are 4s4p 280Ah cells. The charge side is using a pre-charge 3.0 module which controls a Blue S...
@Rick I did some more experimenting. When the Victron system loses communication with the REC BMS the Quattro goes into "Passthru" mode (this is shown for the Quattro status in Device List on the d...
@Ryan I installed many V1 board. Nothing changed on pin layout with newer versions. Did you checked that your harness is a Ntype harness? If you have a Nharness and your test light is between the...
I updated the Cerbo GX firmware. The Quattro is running firmware 497 and I think the latest is 499. I don't think there are any significant differences, but I'll request the firmware from Victron. ...

@Peter, thanks for the help and insigts. Very useful!
Wakespeed just published the videos from the second day of Al Thomason conducting a workshop at the Northwest School of Wooden BoatBuilding from earlier this year. In this series, Al spends more th...
A quick update. After replacing the aging AGM batteries with my new battery made from CALB 230 cells, these errors appear to have been resolved.
This seems like a pre-release board and we dont have any experience with it. You're best to contact Al at Wakespeed al@wakespeed.com
yes, the Cerbo should be connected direct to the battery so it does not lose power on a trip. Interesting note about the loss of comms. It makes me think the BMS is not the problem. Did you...
Any insight on this old board? I have configured it on my bench with the barebones wires attached as per ricks suggestion. Ignition feed gets power the bulb turns on at max brightness.&nb...
@Rick I performed a test today. Rather than powering off the BMS I unplugged the CAN bus connection between the BMS and Cerbo GX. Nothing happed. The Quattro continued to maintain the previously re...
@Rick I have a new thought about this. When the contactor drops out the Cerbo GX loses power. I wonder if this prevents the Cerbo GX from telling the Quattro to shutdown? From page 69 of the Cerbo ...
I have pushed this back to REC but it will be after the holidays before we hear back. Best of the season! Rick
@Rick To add one last point. Victron say that disconnecting the DC from the Quattro while AC is still connected without first turning it off can cause damage to the Quattro and is not recommended.&...
Hello All, I have just fired up my REC Q BMS and am accessing it via the WiFi module. I am stilling learning all of the capabilites and settings, but have a quick question. (1) Is the...
Please keep us updated with what they say and when a firmware update is available.
@Rick That would be great. This is a very important piece of data for us electric boaters to have in the cockpit. Will have to revert back to my BVM for the time being. Hopefully it tracks with the...
Lots of other detail on the battery pack but I am not seeing it either. I will put in a request to REC to see if we can add that in a future release
Hey Chris, I will pass this back to REC head office and see if we can get their input on this one. Thanks for the feedback.
@Rick Here is the final word from Victron: "If losing the BMS does not turn off the Quattro, then the communication is not there for this to act. Most likely, this battery uses some sort of BMS co...
Am I correct that time-to-go is not transmitted from the BMS over CAN? I don't see it listed in the 2Q manual, or on the GX 50 display.
@Rick I've been emailing back and forth with my Victron provider. They are pretty much saying that since the REC BMS is not theirs they can't be of much help.
Studying now. Thanks for taking the time to post the details of your project!
Field winding is fine. Showing 6.9Ohms now. It was a problem with the multimeter. The cable numbers you say dont seem to match what I have on my plug? I have the 1.0 Board 2018. Perhaps the pl...
@Rick Thanks. Will try this. I was testing this morning and it seems I am getting 19 Ohms between the two field wires which seems fairly high.
Once the REC BMS passes the CANBus info to the Cerbo, at that time it is treated as any other DC souce so you want to look on the Victron side of things. Maybe verify that your REC is set as ...
@Ryan If you are still troubleshooting, the probelm is rarely the WS500 and often a wiring issue. Having the wrong harness likely would not cause this isssue, but to test it is pretty straigh...
You can repeat this test, with testlight connected to blue and negative. This 2 test will show or you use the correct cable harness. Take also a ohm reading from, Brush 1, to negative, positive,...
You can test the field output with by connecting a testlight. Disconnect the blue from alternator, and connect a light to this blue wire. Other side testligt to positive( with N wiring harness) ...
Would this issue happen if the field is wrong?
I just finished installing a REC 2Q BMS, Cerbo GX/GX 59 display. I have an existing Victron Quattro. I configured the Cerbo for DVCC. I go it all online and cells charged. When I turned off the BMS...
@Ben Currently one side of the field goes to B+ alternator positive. The other goes to the wakespeed pin 7 "wakespeed field" blue wire.
Sometimes it is quicker to install one new wire from the key, instead off finding the correct wire in a cable loom. I don't prefer the extra relay, only when there is no other solution.
@Jim use a small 5V relay.
Is your alternator P or N? Knowing this, I can tell what to test. Also posting some pictures from your wiring can be helpfull to give advice.
