@John Can you post the picture that you talk about. There are different cable harnesen, in lenght and different connectors for different purpose. But color code from the cable have all the same f...
@Jay Explanation:If you connect the usb, the regulator starts up as normal, same way as you apply power to the brown wire. This can explain the difference in behaviour you see, when you plug in t...
I recently had a second alternator installed at the manufacturer. But this was not thier normal install since it had not been done on my slightly older 2021 Mercedes Sprinter RV. After recie...
I have pushed this back to Tine at REC for his review. As soon as I hear back I will post it here.
Here is an example captured tonight, the boat is pretty much idle plugged into shore power with an actual current draw of 184W the only loads are just 2 fridges wifi router, and a victron Cerbo tot...
Quick update, when the engines are started up without the USB connection to the WS500, there are no error codes (flashing amber for "slave" mode). Jay
Ben, many thanks. We recorded the WS500 log during two startup scenarios: 1) with solar connected and 2) with solar circuit breakers off. I don't know how to send the full log fil...
Are your WS500 connected to the Cerbo? If so, you could also share your VRM, maybe this shows what the problem is. This in combination with the logfiles gives loads off info.
Can you post a logfile from the ws500 when the engeines are running. Logfile can be made with Laptop and program Putty, see wakespeed manual. Or with a phone and the WS500 app, see wakespeed webs...
We have a Victron/Rec BMS/Wakespeed system that was set up for solar charging but just now hooked up 6 solar panels (2500 watts). The alternator charging system worked fine before the solar panels ...
have had the same thing happen to my system recently suddenly strange ghost loads appearing i had one over noght that too the 4s pack down to what it thought was 8% capacity but the voltage was sat...
From a customer: Can you assist me in explaining the correct "ERRO?" Error message retrieval for the BMS System?Using master device address: 16I enter the message string: ERRO?The re...
I have a boat with a REC Active BMS with sn# 1-A-12XX and want to install a WS500. Can I just update FW to 2.9 and use CAN BUS communication?
@Matthew I have tested a while ago to enter the RE1L or RE1H in the WIFI module under manual communication. This works great, so I expect it work also with the PC software. Rick, you mentio...
I am using the OEM supplied cable. And, due to the prototype nature of my setup, all cables are short. pristine, and easily inspectable. I am 100% sure that this is NOT a wiring issue, since ...
So it's no longer programmable using RE1L or RE1H? No WiFi module here
Yes, relay 1 is now custom programmable using the "Tasks" page of the WiFi module. The older PC software does not support this new feature. Both opto outputs are now configurable as well
I was looking through the manual for the new firmware version and noticed that the command to configure the voltage and hysteresis for relay 1 isn't there anymore - instead a note about configuring...
Here is some feedback from Tine at REC head office. Paraphrased Looks like a wiring problem. If the problem was in the burned current protection resistors the current would always stay round...
Thanks Rick, but I'm going to hold off updating and try to find a way to reproduce the problem. This way, when I update, I'll have a way to determine if its been fixed or not.
REC doesnt share all of the details of their updates but it can't hurt to start there. You can download the firmware from here: https://rec-bms-na.com/product-manuals/#7-8-wpfd-rec-active-bm...
Rick, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. For completeness, I went thru your list. All connections were clean and tight. The problem persisted. Note that the lugs on the premade...
Thanks Rick. This is very helpful. Apparently there are two issues. The dual source of charge and the shttign down of the field when the batteries are full. I will address the first with a manual P...
Q1) The WS500 and MPPT do not share data at this time and they will both try to charge your batteries independantly so you will want to consider your circumstances. You can configure bo...
Edward, This is an important issue and we need to get to the bottom of it. I have not been able to replicate your issue on our test board nor seen it happen personally but it really seems li...
@Darryl I have just had a similar occurance. I am running a REC Active BMS with a REC WiFi module attached. The system is destined for my sailboat, but is currently prototyped o...
"posted for Stefano" How should I set the MPPT charging profile as to work well with the WS500? I run a WS500, with a Victron SmartSolar MPPT, all connected to a Cerbo GX and Smart BMV712. ...
@Ben Thanks Ben I will stop chasing something that doesn't exist. Its such a shame that the the WS500 cant be controlled like the Multiplus. Edit, it looks like there is a wirless conection this ye...
WS500 is controlled by REC-BMS, not by the Cerbo. REC-BMS and WS500 are both connected to the same CAN, the third device on this CAN is the Victron GX, use the correct termination
Hi Ben & all I am in the process of setting up my REC-BMS, Cerbo, Multiplus & WS500. I am using the DVCC to limit the charging and dropping the voltage to stop the Multiplus charging, are...
I slowly see the lowest voltage rising. From my calculations, the balancing current per cell can only be max 0,5A.Whatever, if it works in the end, it is ok for me...
The Active BMS wil balance at up to 2.5 amps per cell. Balancing will start at BMIN setpoint, usually around 3.4 volts. You don't want to set it lower because the mid range charge voltage of ...
Hello, I have a 3p4s config of 280Ah cells making up my battery.I have significant cell voltages differences (0,18) so balancing needs to be done. Can anyone give me an idea at what capacity the ...
Thanks that makes this clear
@carl The cerbo should show, external control, in the multi dialog. In victron connect app, MPPT's, shows also external control. WS500 shows, state 39, in logfile. The MAX voltage sett...
If you activate DVCC then REC BMS becomes "the boss". But its allways good to set some reasonable (low) settings in the Multiplus as fallback.
Hello, A very simple question : I use the REC Active BMS with v2.90 firmware connected to Cerbo and multiplus. There are max voltage settings for absorption and float.Do they still have any effect ...
